1-1 - Lost
In this Bundesliga game Koln will host Hoffenheim.
Koln are 7th with 40 points. They are fighting for Europa League place, but their performances of late have not been at desired level. They have only two wins in the last eleven league games, and they need to step up if they want to stay in contention. In the last game they lost to Augsburg away from home 2:1. Augsburg started the game better, and by the 23rd minute they were up 2:0. Koln looked powerless, unable to create a clear chance, but they got a glimmer of hope when Max put the ball into his own net in 65th minute. However, visitors didn`t have what it takes to score another one, and left with nothing, failing even to record a shot on goal. Risse and Zoller will be out for Koln due to injuries.
Hoffenheim are 3rd with 54 points. That is one point more than Dortmund, with whom they will be fighting for direct entrance into Champions League. They have been in good form lately, losing only one out of the last nine games. During that run they pulled off some good results, including away win at Hertha, and a home win against Bayern. Last time out they beat Monchengladbach at home, in what was a real goalfest. Hoffenheim went 2:0 up in 24th minute, with two goals from Szalai, but the visitors equalized by the half-time, and the teams went on a break levelled. In the second half, Hoffenheim took charge again, with Demirbay socring in 58th and Uth in 75th. Dahoud gave Monchengladbach hope only three minutes later, but Demirbay put the game beyond doubt with his second goal in 89th minute. Hoffenheim will miss only Hubner who is suspended.
Koln are fighting for Europa League, and they have been much more solid at home than on the road this season. However, lately they have been less than impressive, especially in defence, keeping only one clean sheet in the last eleven games. Hoffenheim are pretty far from the second-placed Leipzig, while they have considerable advantage over fifth-placed Hertha. Therefore, it is only matter of question if they will finish 3rd or 4th, with both places leading into Champions League. That pretty comfortable situation should allow them to continue playing their own game, which means they will come here to take three points. Hoffenheim are a more quality team, but Koln are playing at home, and will also be searching for three points considering that the end of season is near. Hoffenheim is powered by in-form attackers, while on the other end, they are much less reliable. Majority of their away games this season saw both teams scoring, and I think this time also that will be the case. Since I see this game being quite an open one considering situation both Koln and Hoffenheim are in, both teams to score and over 2.5 goals seems like a right way to go here.
