3-5 - Won
In this Serie A fixture Chievo will host Roma.
Chievo are 13th with 43 points. They have secured survival and can`t go much up nor down on the table. They have been playing hot and cold lately, recording five straight losses prior to current run of three games without a defeat. Last time out they played 1:1 with Sampdoria on the road, in what was a classic "Italian-style" game. It hasn`t been a very eventful game, with both teams approaching in safety-first manner. Sampdoria got a lead in 11th minute via Quagliarella and kept it until half-time. However, right after the break, Chievo levelled things up with Inglese scoring in 46th minute. Since that moment, the game had completely died, and we saw nothing more than couple of long shots which haven`t changed the result. Injured Meggiorini will be the only noticeable missing for Chievo.
Roma are 2nd with 81 points. They are four points behind Juventus, which means they could hardly reach the title. But they are one point in front of Napoli and will fight with them to keep second spot which leads directly into Champions League. They have been in good form recently, losing only once in the last eleven competitive games, while winning nine times. In the last game they pulled off an impressive victory against Juventus at home. It has to be said that Juventus played with a rotated squad, but still, beating Juventus is not an easy thing to do. Visitors started the game better and got a lead in 21st minute via Lemina. However, De Rossi equalized only four minutes later following a corner kick. After the break Roma stepped up, and in 56th minute El Shaarawy put them in front. Nainggolan scored third nine minutes later to give Roma vital points in their fight for a second place. The only missing for Roma will be Dzeko, who is injured.
Chievo are coming into this game relaxed, without the imperative of result. Roma, however, need to win here if they want to hold on to second place, as Napoli could overtake them otherwise. Roma have been showing open attacking-style football this season, and that hasn`t changed lately. The best proof of that statement are three goals scored against Juventus. They have also won last four away games, scoring 14 goals in process, and we should see the same attacking intent here. Chievo won only two out of the last nine home games, but have found a net in all but three this season. They have scored against Juventus, Inter, Milan, Napoli and Lazio at home this season and I see them making their mark here also. There`s no reason for them to sit deep and defend since Roma will be too hard to contain, and besides that, they don`t need points. Therefore, I think that Chievo will manage to score here, but also that Roma will come out as winners eventually. The odds of that happening are very tempting and I will take them.
