0-2 - Lost
In this MLS match LA Galaxy will host New York City.
LA are 9th in Western Conference with 23 points. Their chances of reaching playoffs are looking slimmer with every game and change of coach didn`t bring any improvements so far. They are on a seven-game winless run, during which they lost six times. After drawing with Seattle at home, they were defeated in Portland 3:1. Hosts took the lead already in 5th minute, but LA answered just minute later. However, it was all LA could do and Timbers recorded comfortable win with another two goals. LA showed once again they just can`t find a way to win the game, but they will need to step up their game soon if they want to keep their chances alive. They signed Jonathan Dos Santos in hope he will bring something they have been missing, but even though he is available for selection it remains to be seen if he is in full match fitness. Van Damme is suspended again, while Husidic, Lletget and Rogers remain injured. Alessandrini is quastionable due to knee problem.
NYC are 3rd in Eastern Conference with 40 points. They have been in solid form lately, even though away from home they have not been impressive. After suffering tough defeat on their trip to Toronto, they bounced back when they hosted their city rivals. It was a game full of turnarounds, but it was City who came out as winners. It was mainly thanks to David Villa who almost single-handedly scored three goals in a 3:2 victory. Villa scored 17 goals so far this season and he is playing at a level above MLS. For this game NYC will be without suspended Maxi Moralez, as well as Camargo, Chanot, Matarrita and Sands who are injured.
It is a matter of time when LA will record a victory, but here they are coming up against one of the best teams in the league at the moment. Also, they are coming up against 2nd best attack in MLS and it doesn˙t sound good for the team which conceded 19 goals in the last seven matches. New York struggled on the road recently, but LA are by far the worst home team in the league, having recorded only 7 points at StubHub Center. LA will be desperate for three points here and they will have to approach this game in attacking manner. New York should be able to answer them, especially since they arrived to LA three days ago to prepare themselves. Therefore, I think we will see an open, entertaining game. And since both teams carry more power in offense than in defence, both teams to score and over 2.5 goals looks very likely here.
