In this Spanish Super Cup first leg Barcelona will host Real Madrid.
Barcelona are coming after a turbulent summer in which the main theme was will Neymar leave. In the end he did, with Barcelona getting €222m in return. It seemed like their preparations were less important, but they still finished preseason without a defeat, winning all games but one. They beat Juventus, Real and Manchester United, and while those were only friendlies they showed they are still the team to beat. As already mentioned Barcelona have sold Neymar, while the bought Nelson Semedo, Marlon and their own "product" Gerard Deulofeu. Also, by the newest information they bought Paulinho for around €36m. He will not be included in the squad for this game, but all the other players will be available.
Real have not been looking that good during preseason, having lost three games while winning only two. They beat Juventus and MLS All-Stars on penalties, while losing to Manchester City, Barcelona and Manchester United on penalties. However, in the UEFA Super Cup they looked like the same old Real. They completely dominated United in the first half and went on a break with 1:0 advantage thanks to Casemiro`s goal in 24th minute. Isco added second in 52nd minute, but then United stepped up their game and pulled one back in 62nd minute. We saw number of more chances from both sides and the game could`ve finished with even higher score, but in the end Real lifted the trophy and proved once again they are the best team in Europe at the moment. During the summer Pepe left the club as a free agent, while Danilo has been sold to Manchester City. On the other hand, Theo Hernandez and Dani Ceballos have arrived. Real will be almost complete for this game, with only Modric missing out having picked up red card in the 2014 Super Cup game.
There isn`t much to say about El Clasico what hasn`t been already said number of times. It`s always hard to predict winner in these games, no matter what the situation is. And this time is no diffeent. However, what we are almost sure to see are goals. Only 3 out of the last 22 games didn`t see both teams scoring and more than two goals, while those three saw at least one pf those selections coming up. Also, as I already mentioned Barca and Real met each other two weeks ago and the game finished 3:2 in Barca`s favour. It is hard to see any different scenario past both teams scoring with over 2.5 goals, and it makes sense to back that selection despite low odds. To be honest, it is hard to find value in any selection concerning this game, but goals look sure to land once more and therefore I will make that pick with a maximum stake.
