PSV awaiting CSKA Moscow in final round of Champions league group stage. PSV will be seeking for their placement into knockout stage in this match, they are currently at 3rd position in group B with seven points and one point less than 2nd Manchester United. PSV is coming to this match after narrow victory over Vitesse in last round of their domestic league, while before that celebrated over AZ Alkmaar at home 3:0. PSV is in good shape, they are without defeat in last nine matches and now they have imperative to celebrate here and win their placement into knockout stage of Champions league. In Holland league PSV currently occupies 3rd position with 4 points less than league leaders Ajax, so far they suffered only one defeat against Heracles on the road 2:1. They are playing great offensive football and for sure will give their best to do what is necessary in this match to achieve great success and continue with competing in Champions league for the next spring. They also reached 1/8 finals of the Holland Cup and so far they are doing great job in all competitions, currently they are fully focused on this match against CSKA and they must avoid worst case scenario as was in their first duel in 2nd round in September when PSV suffered defeat on the road 3:2. In previous two matches at home against Wolfsburg and Manchester United they achieved victories and now must try to exploit advantage of home field and achieve positive outcome. As for absent players, defenders Jetro Willems and Menno Koch and attacking midfielder Luciano Narsingh will stay out of action for this match due to injuries.
CSKA on the other side is totally out of the track, in last seven matches in all competitions including friendly match during International break they suffered six defeats and got one draw, most recently they were defeated against Amkar in last round of Russian premier league on the road 2:0. CSKA had a great start of this campaign, they were without defeat in first 14 rounds of Russian league, while in Champions league celebrated only once against PSV at home and got one draw in first duel with Manchester United also at home. They are still at 1st position in their domestic league with 3 points more than 2nd Rostov but if they don't improve their shape for sure will drop their leading position. In Russian Cup they managed to progress into quarter finals by eliminating Ural at home 2:1. CSKA is now without chances to reach knockout stage and they can only try to reach Europa league knockout stage, but for that they must achieve convincing victory in this duel and that won't be easy at all against PSV which is in great shape. CSKA totally dropped their form, they seems almost desperate, they suffered defeat even against Anzhi, team which is in relegation zone. They must try to improve their form and get back on the track, but judging by their current form they have really small chances for positive outcome in this match, so far they failed to win a single point in matches on the road in Champions league group stage, and now must show really outstanding performances to stay in Europe for the next spring. Midfielder Roman Eremenko will miss this match due to an injury while appearance of defenders Vassili Berezutski and Georgy Schennikov are in doubt due to a minor injuries.
This match is very important for both sides, PSV must go for a victory in order to progress into knockout phase of the Champions league, they are in great shape and for sure are able to achieve positive outcome in front of their fans, while on the other side, CSKA must try to end series of bad results and achieve victory with at least two goals difference to reach Europa league knockout stage but judging by their form there are really small odds for that, and I expect that PSV will celebrate here and achieve great success in Europe after nine seasons.
