In this Champions League fixture RB Leipzig will host Monaco.
Leipzig started their Bundesliga season with a defeat against Schalke, but then went to win next two games. They beat Freiburg and HSV while dominating on both occasions. Against Freiburg they were losing at half-time but after the break showed their real selves and netted four goals. Against HSV however, they were in control from the beginning, winning 2:0 while the margin could've been even higher. After some statements that they won't be allowed to compete in the Champions League, they got a green light and they will be eager to present themselves in a positive fashion. They will be without Coltorti, while Keita picked up groin injury and is questionable.
Monaco started their domestic season with five league wins after losing Super Cup to PSG. However, last time out when they visited Nice they were heavily beaten. Nice started scoring in 6th minute and by the 18th they were already 2:0 up. Monaco didn`t have an adequate answer and with two more goals in the second half hosts took convincing and rather surprising victory. Monaco looked totally uninspired and put up one of their worst performances in recent years, having recorded only one shot in the goal frame. They will certainly be looking to bounce back here but their confidence won`t be too high after recent defeat. The only question for Jardim coming into this game will be Lemar who picked up slight injury on Saturday.
After an opening defeat Leipzig raised their game and recorded two clear victories. Monaco on the other hand, suffered a tough defeat after period of dominance. Therefore, hosts are coming in better momentum. Leipzig should be considered slight favourites as they are playing at home, but Monaco are still one dangerous team despite being left without their two key players. Considering playing style of both teams, we should be in for a real treat of a game. Neither team will probably go out all guns blazing, but we should still see goals as both teams carry a lot of talent in offense. Leipzig are more defensively solid than Monaco, especially at home, but they will still find it hard to keep their net untouched against prolific visitors. Monaco showed bad performance against Nice, but I think it was nothing more than a slip-up and that they will be at their best here. With all that being said, I think both teams will go out searching for a goal more and it should bring us entertaining game with goals from both sides and more than two in total.
