Tianjin Quanjian have risen immensely over the last few years from winning the Chinese league one title two years ago and then finishing third in the super league last season to qualify for the AFC champions league. They started the season in spectacular fashion winning 4-0 away at Henan Jianye but came short against Jeonbuk in the AFC champions league in midweek by 6-3. It was a great test of their strength playing against one of the continents big boys away from home and scoring three goals is a good showing of their attacking prowess as only a few teams can match Jeonbuk. Fatigue could be an issue here with their big players set for their third game in ten games and a few changes could be expected today but Witsel, Pato and Modeste are fit and should play some part in the game.
Beijing Renhe were defeated by a lone goal on their opening game at Chongqing Dangdai Lifan as they start life in the top tier division after their promotion last season. They could be given a further reality to life against a better team than last weeks opponent who are seeking to keep their place as one of the top teams in the division. They bossed possession and had more attempts on goal in that game at Lifan but just lacked the clinical edge to finish those chances and will need to do better if they are to extend their stay in this division beyond this season. Manager Luis Garcia could stick to the same team that lost on opening day in a 4-4-2 formation.
Last season Quanjian were in the same position as Beijing Renhe having just secured promotion but surprised many to move to the top of the league in their first season. They made some smart and expensive buys to the team which has been lacking in Beijing Renhe. Their season aim will be to avoid relegation and games like this surely will not decide their fate but getting apoint here would not hurt their chances either. Qianjiang should win this as they are clearly the better side and I anticipate a quite one sided game. It could take some time for the host to get going after their midweek game but they should ultimately be able to get the points in a comfortable fashion. A home win looks like the best call today.
