1-2 - Lost
Manchester United have only lost once, and that was to leaders Manchester City in the Premier League, and doubt that they lose here. Their home form is the main reason why they are second in the PL, and though they have not been playing attractive football, it is effective, as it gets the results they want. While they won 2-1 at home over two very good sides in Liverpool and Chelsea, they had not conceded in their previous four home games in the PL, and expect them to do so again here, against a side that has struggled of late.
In their home games in the Champions League, they have beaten Basel 3-0, as well as Benfica 2-0 and CSKA Moscow 2-1. In the first leg against Sevilla, they drew 0-0 and were once again content to soak up the pressure on the road, and especially not concede, but know at home, they will look to use that home form to get the win
Sevilla are coming off a 2-0 home loss to Valencia, and lost 5-2 at home to another very good side in Atletico Madrid. Though there were two wins between these two losses in the Primera Liga, they were to teams in the bottom half.
In their away games in the Champions League, they had a fortunate 2-2 draw at Liverpool where they should have lost by a few goals if the Reds could have put their chances away, lost 5-1 at Spartak Moscow, and drawn 1-1 at Maribor. Though they created more chances in the first leg, their inability to score from them, means it is unlikely they will be able to do so on the road against a very good defensive minded side
Expect the first half to be a cagey start to this leg, as both sides will not want to concede and thus can see this game being bogged down in the midfield. Sevilla will try to hit them on the counter, but Manchester United is another side who likes to hit on the counter as well, and as both sides struggle to find that opening then hard to see many goals in the first half. However, the second half is likely to see the teams start the open up a bit more, and Manchester United have some players like Lukaku and Rashford who can benefit from this. If as expected the home side score, then Mourinho will look to park the bus and be satisfied with the 1-0 win, while Sevilla will find it even harder to score on them. The home side may get a second goal as the away side pushes for the equaliser, but this game is looking more and more like a home win with very few goals in it
