Brunei DPMM welcome Geylang in round 4 of the Singaporean S league. DPMM actualy played a game less but have 3 points so far while Geylang has 1 and 0-1-2 so far.
DPMM finished just over last place the season before and that was definitely disapponting for the league winners from just 3 seasons back. So they definitely splashed some money around and got some key reinforcements like Irish central defender Brian McLean, Iranian Mojtaba Esmaeilzadeh and Ukranian attacker Volodymyr Pryyomov who played for Shakhtar. With also the new coach Rene Weber DPMM has a good mix of experience and new up and coming prospects who just may make a big impact on S league. They will be lurking from the shadows.
In their first home match they did a number on Home United beating them 4:2 but with 4:0 lead till the last part of the match. Pryymov made and instant impact scoring 2 goals but unfortunately the defender Mclean got injured and is questionable for this match. In the next match DPMM fell against Albirex 2:0 but deserved a goal. They pushed Albirex hard in second half and this 2:0 is definitely not realistic.
Geylang finished 4`th last season and was a pretty uncomfortable team to deal with. But they reshufled the team completely and only 4 players from the lineup remained: Darren Teh, Shawal Anuar, Anders Aplin and Yuki Ichikawa. They got a new coach Hirotaka Usui and made some interesting signings like Fumiya Kogure, Azhar Sairudin, Jufri Taha and Zulfadli Zainal. Still the most of the team is very young and will take time to adjust to the league. This was very obvious in the first 3 matches as Geylang drew with Warriors 1:1 and lost to Tampines 3:1 and Balestier 0:1. They haven`t lost to Balestier in 3 years before. They sit at the bottom of the table
and I doubt this will change after this match.
I go for a home win.
