Nice took very important three pointer last weekend as the team defeated Reims away from home with a narrow 1:0 result. They took the lead already in fourth minute via Benrahma and managed to remain leading till the end with very organized defense. However, they also had some offensive phases during the match, not being only limited to completely passive role.
This was third game without defeat for the team that now have detached even furthermore from the relegation placed, being currently six points above 18th placed Toulouse. Even though the team is at tenth position, they aren't completely safe yet, however it's hard to imagine exactly them relegating as there are eight teams involved in a relegation battle. However, it's for sure that the team will want to get the victory here as well, trying to continue their positive streak and remove all relegation doubts. Home side have key central defender Sebastien Squillaci back after suspension, while only injury worry is forward Floyd Ayite (25/4) who is doubtful.
PSG, on the other side, took the League Cup title on last Saturday evening by beating Bastia with a 4:0 result, however the team also comes from a 3:1 defeat at home against much more superior Barcelona in the quarter-finals of Champions League and now have very little chances for a miracle in Spain in two weeks.
Playing without Ibrahimovic was simply too much for them, even though it's a question mark whether the team would give better performance in case he was playing. Ibrahimovic (26/19) continues to be suspended for this game as well, as the team decided to appeal to the French National Committe this week following his ban. Offensive player Marco Verratti (27/1) is also suspended, while defensive midfielder Thiago Motta might play here, coming from injury. On the other side, central defender Thiago Silva (27/2) remains injured.
PSG simply has to win here in order to catch firstly placed Lyon that has two points more. Nice is in fine form and should be quite relaxed in this one, trying to make one of the biggest scalps in the season. Over goals seems like a granted thing for me.
